1. Exactly When Data Leaves Your Device
The calculator sends nothing.
All calculations (video bitrates, file sizes, streaming network headroom, and CCTV storage capacities) execute entirely within your web browser on your local device. No calculation inputs, resolution selections, or video metrics are ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party analytics provider.
The only time data leaves your device is when the visitor emails us. If you choose to send an inquiry or error report using a mailto link, your email client sends that message directly over standard email protocols. Messages sent to our contact address are received through Cloudflare Email Routing and forwarded to a private inbox.
2. Local File Analyzer (Zero Upload Privacy Guarantee)
Files are processed locally and not transmitted.
When you use the "Analyze a video file" feature to inspect duration, resolution, frame rate, video codec, audio bitrate, or calculate average bitrate:
- Zero Uploads: Your video file never leaves your computer, phone, or tablet. It is NEVER uploaded to our servers, Cloudflare, or any external endpoint.
- In-Browser Execution: The file is read entirely inside your browser memory sandbox using the HTML5 File API and client-side WebAssembly (WASM).
- Zero Network Transmission: Neither the video content, nor its audio stream, nor any decoded metadata chunks are ever transmitted across the network.
- Immediate Memory Revocation: Local browser blob object URLs are immediately revoked and destroyed as soon as metadata inspection finishes.
3. What We Collect (And What We Do Not)
- ✕ No Cookies: We do not set any tracking, session, authentication, or advertising cookies.
- ✕ No Tracking Scripts: There are no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, tracking beacons, or third-party behavioral scripts loaded on this website.
- ✕ No Account Profiling: We do not operate a user database, require login credentials, or track user identity across sessions.
4. Local Storage on Your Device
To remember your preferences between visits, this website utilizes your browser's native localStorage to store:
- Theme Choice: Whether you prefer Dark or Light mode (
bitrate_calc_theme). - Unit & Platform Preferences: Your selected unit standard (Decimal 1000 vs Binary 1024) and the active calculator tab (
bitrate_calc_pref).
This data remains stored locally inside your browser sandbox on your device and is never synchronized to an external server. You can inspect or clear this storage at any time using your browser settings or by clicking the button below:
5. Hosting Infrastructure & Server Logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, request timestamp, requested URL path, and browser user-agent) for basic operational performance, caching, and security against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
