Terms of Service

1. Purpose of This Utility
Bitrate Calculator Free provides open web tools to help content creators, video editors, live streamers, and surveillance technicians estimate video bitrates, file sizes, streaming bandwidth headroom, and hard drive retention needs.
By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you are free to stop using the site at any time.
2. Guidance Only — Not Professional Engineering Advice
All calculations, recommendations, bits-per-pixel targets, and storage estimates are provided strictly for informational and planning guidance. They do not constitute certified network engineering, life-safety security design, or legal broadcast advice.
Key Takeaway:
Real-world performance depends on network congestion, ISP peering, encoder silicon variations, thermal throttling, scene complexity, and drive firmware. Always test your encoder and storage hardware in an empirical staging environment before committing to mission-critical broadcasts or physical drive purchases.
3. Platform Limits and Third-Party Specifications
Ingest ceilings, maximum file sizes, and codec compatibility rules for external platforms (such as Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X) are set independently by those companies and change without prior warning.
While we regularly audit specifications and flag unverified endpoints, we cannot guarantee that an external platform has not altered its server configuration, API limits, or compression algorithms since our last review.
4. "As Is" Basis — No Warranty
Bitrate Calculator Free is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the maintainers and contributors will not be liable for dropped frames, stream disconnects, copyright mutes, failed recordings, insufficient surveillance drive capacity, hardware expenses, or any incidental damages resulting from reliance on the numbers generated by this tool.
5. Permitted Use
- Personal & Commercial Use: You are free to use this calculator for personal broadcasts, commercial streaming, client consulting, and NVR capacity planning at zero cost.
- Fair Usage: You agree not to launch automated denial-of-service attacks, scrape the site excessively, or attempt to disrupt service for other users.
6. Trademarks & Brand Attribution
Bitrate Calculator Free is not affiliated with Twitch, YouTube, Meta, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Kick, X, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Hikvision, Dahua or ONVIF. All trademarks belong to their owners.
7. Corrections & Inquiries
If you believe a formula has a bug or notice that a platform's limits have changed, please notify us via our Contact & Corrections Page so we can audit and update the numbers promptly.
